World History Flashcards: 1200–Present Timeline & Themes
Study world history from 1200 to the present with 500 sourced cards on chronology, exchange, states, revolutions, conflict, globalization, and source analysis.
Sellest kaardipakist
Study global history from about 1200 to the present with 500 original, independently written flashcards for English-speaking high-school, college survey, and independent learners.
The cards map people, states, events, institutions, ideas, technologies, and source situations to definitions, roles, causes, consequences, significance, comparisons, continuity and change, and evidence use. Related ideas appear in more than one direction only when each prompt asks for a distinct retrieval, such as a policy to its purpose or an event to its consequence. Mechanical reversals, every possible permutation, and isolated date-to-event trivia are excluded.
The learning order is both chronological and thematic. It moves from regional societies and exchange networks in 1200–1450 through land and maritime empires, revolutions and industrialization, modern imperialism, global conflict, decolonization and the Cold War, and globalization. Within each theme, short interleaved waves move from anchors to processes, causes and consequences, comparison or continuity, and source analysis; related variants are separated so nearby answers do not cue one another.
Coverage includes state formation, long-distance exchange, belief and cultural interaction, land and maritime empires, Atlantic systems, political revolutions, industrialization, imperialism, world wars, mass violence, decolonization, the Cold War, global institutions, technology, health, environment, and global culture. It excludes detailed pre-1200 history except brief prerequisites, exhaustive battle chronology, ruler lists, object-identification trivia, unstable current-affairs claims, proprietary assessment material, copied source wording, and card media.
Historical claims are paraphrased from live institutional or other authoritative sources linked on every card. No textbook, answer bank, protected assessment, competitor card, or third-party media was copied. The questions, answers, sequence, metadata, and cover are original and independently produced; linked material remains under its own terms.
These flashcards complement rather than replace primary-source analysis and essay practice.

Kaart 2
Küsimus
Which broad regions did the overland Silk Roads connect?
Vastus
East Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Branching routes crossed steppes, deserts, mountains, and oasis settlements.

Kaart 3
Küsimus
How does a secondary source differ from a primary source?
Vastus
A secondary source retells, analyzes, or interprets the past from some distance in time or place. It can supply context and argument, while a primary source supplies direct evidence from the period under study.
Source: Library of Congress — Getting Started with Primary Sources.
Kaart 4
Küsimus
What should a historian do before interpreting a primary source?
Vastus
Record concrete observations about what is actually present. Separating visible or readable details from later inferences makes the interpretation easier to test.

Küsimus
Why identify a source’s format before analyzing it?
Vastus

Küsimus
What does historical context add to a source analysis?
Vastus
