Spanish A1 Vocabulary Flashcards: Beginner Words & Phrases
Build a practical beginner vocabulary base for introductions, everyday routines, food, services, travel, and simple conversations. The deck contains 400 independently selected Spanish concepts and 480 English-supported cards.
What the cards practice
Every concept has one Spanish-to-English or short-context recognition card. Eighty high-utility concepts also have a separate English-or-situation-to-Spanish production card: 20 in each of four groups. Concrete nouns include their article, common adjective pairs show gender agreement, and short original examples keep the answer in everyday context.
The deck does not mechanically reverse every word. It also leaves out full conjugation tables, every gender-and-number permutation, article-only drills, synonym permutations, audio, pronunciation scoring, and copied exam or textbook material. Focused Spanish numbers and present-tense verb decks remain useful companions rather than content to reproduce here.
Learning order
The first group builds greetings, identity, question words, numbers, colors, and calendar basics. The next three move through home and daily life, food and common services, then places, travel, directions, communication, leisure, and nature. Production prompts are spaced away from their matching recognition prompts so one card does not give away the next. Long-term spacing and interleaving are left to the review scheduler.
Regional Spanish
The primary targets use broadly understood Spanish, with a clear Spain form where it fits the Instituto Cervantes coverage map. When a major everyday alternative matters, the back briefly labels it—for example, ordenador / computadora, zumo / jugo, patata / papa, coche / carro or auto, and camarero / mesero. These are regional choices, not right-versus-wrong corrections.
Scope and provenance
The current Instituto Cervantes A1–A2 curricular index and specific-notions inventory were used as a topic-coverage map. The Real Academia Española / ASALE dictionary is the lexical fact-check reference for spelling, gender, and core senses. The selection, mappings, prompts, examples, sequence, and metadata are independently written from common knowledge and source checks. Public pages from three current learning tools were reviewed only to compare structure and learner expectations; no competitor cards or examples were copied.
This is a practical, bounded A1 vocabulary package, not an official or exhaustive A1 word list. It is independent and unofficial, with no affiliation with or endorsement by Instituto Cervantes, the Council of Europe, DELE, or any compared product. No official logos or trade dress are used.
The Common knowledge · CC0 1.0 label applies to the original wording, examples, organization, metadata, and later original or generated media to the extent applicable rights exist. It does not claim ownership of Spanish vocabulary, third-party names, or source material.
